Temperatures once again pushed into the low 40s this past Wednesday night at the Brockville Ontario Speedway Bullring as all 7 classes of karts were ready to go racing. with only 3 regular season weeks left after this week the racing was very intense but also very exciting.
In the First Year Box Stock class Lachlan Anderson was the man to beat on this night. Only making his 3rd ever start he survived a late race caution and a hard charging Keegan Elliott to claim his first career win in the division. Keegan Elliott settled for 2nd while Ella Shipclark made a late race charge coming home 3rd at the finish.
The 2nd year Box Stock class found Dylan Moore at the head of the field through the entire 10 lap contest. Moore took the lead from pole sitter Blake Smith early on and drove away to score his 2nd win of the season with Smith crossing in 2nd while Grayson Reddick came through the field to cross in 3rd.
The Rookie 1 class saw Brayden Comeau set a quick pace in the early going and was determined to get himself into the winners circle. Kyle Stewart made a late race surge but he would run out of laps as Comeau would grab his 4th win of the season and first since June. 29th of this year. Stewart settled for 2nd while Landen Slinger claimed his 10th straight podium finish coming home in 3rd.
In Jr. Sportsman 2 Trent Wallace clearly has had everything go his way the last few weeks at Brockville. After claiming his 2nd win last week, Wallace was able to take over the top spot early on and survived several late race yellows to record his 2nd in a row and 3rd of the 2016 season in Jr. Sportsman 2. Braxton D’Alessio crossed in 2nd with Jayden Comeau finishing a hard fought 3rd at the checkers.
Stock Light was up next for their 15 lap feature event and Evan Reynolds was looking to end all the frustration with a big win. The Stock Light rookie took the lead at the drop of the green and pulled out to a big lead while brother Tyler Reynolds and last week’s winner Dylan Tinkler were battling hard for 2nd. Even a late race caution with 5 to go would not detour Reynolds as he held off all challenges and finally grab his first feature win in the class over Tinkler while Tyler Reynolds claimed his 5th podium finish of the year.
Jr. Restricted saw Braxton D’Alessio turn his night around as he set a fast pace early on but the driver on the move was 5 time feature winner Zack Renaud. After starting 5th Renaud worked his way forward getting to 2nd on lap 9 and tried to run down the leader. After a short yellow flag Renaud was able to get by on the restart and hold off a late charge by D’Alessio to grab his 6th win of the season in the last 7 weeks, Xavier Perrin saw a rough evening finish on a high note with a 3rd place finish.
The Stock Heavy division saw an emotional moment as new comer Randy Revelle took the lead at the drop of the green flag and pull away to a commanding lead. Defending track champion Brian Clark would not make it easy on him as he charged after the leader and was on his back bumper by lap 10. The yellow flew setting up a nail biting finish, as Revelle got a great start again with Clark right there to challenge. It’s been a season of learning for Revelle and on this night he learned what it was like to get career win number 1 as Randy Revelle scored the big victory. Brian Clark crossed a close 2nd with Mark Greer coming home in 3rd.
Next week all drivers will be up on the wheel as 3 points paying nights are left, time for drivers to move up in the standing and time to get to victory lane as well. All 7 classes with take center stage on the Bullring at 7pm.
