Brockville Ontario Speedway officials have announced a new qualifying process and removed the old handicap system for determining starting positions for Modified and Sportsman features in 2017.
The opening night of racing will remain a heads up process as in the past. After the first week of racing cars will be put in groups based on their total points to date. Groups will consist of approximately 6-8 cars for time trials and heats.
Time trials will determine starting position in the heat. The redraw for feature starting position will be determined by the car count . Therefore based on the car count that night the top 3 or 4 from each heat will re-draw.
If a ” non-regular” car shows up on a regular night they will be considered in the top total point group for time trials and the heats. A “non-regular” car is determined by missing two consecutive regular nights of racing.
This new system will be continually monitored , reviewed and modified as necessary .
