These days, its next to impossible to access any current event source without hearing news of increased prices and the overall cost of living. The promotional team at Brockville Ontario Speedway also knows everything costs more today compared to two years ago. An increase in purse is not going to offset every single expense but they want to give some relief back from the rising inflationary expenses.

They will be adding to the driver purse with an increase of over 20% in all classes for 2022. While this increase doesn’t attempt to offset all the race driver’s costs, it’s at least something to compensate the higher cost of running a race team these days. Track owner/promoter Paul Kirkland says it feels good to give back to the venue’s loyal drivers and race teams.

“With fuel and tire prices following an upward trend we’re looking to do our best to help those who have; or will become regulars with us make The BOS their Saturday night racing choice,” said Kirkland. “There will be a boost for the winner of every main event, but the biggest difference racers will notice is an increase through the full field, including the amount we pay to take the green flag in all divisions for 2022.”

Paul Kirkland says that with the previous COVID-19 restrictions eliminated, this year’s focus at Brockville Speedway will be on positive news. The 2022 schedule is now available on the track’s website and social media platforms. Fans can look forward to a stretch of 17 consecutive Saturday nights of racing through the regular season. In addition to the increased race purse payout, officials have also recently announced regional Sportsman-Modified trail events Saturday, June 11th as part of the opening round of the Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Triple Crown and again Saturday, August 27th.

Saturday night short track racing notebook: For the first time since 2018, Brockville Ontario Speedway will host its Fan Fest event at the Walmart Supercentre location at 1942 Parkedale Avenue in Brockville from 9:00 ‘til 2:00 Saturday, April 30th. The fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario will give fans the opportunity to meet the drivers and see some of the cars and go karts that that will be part of the track’s 2022 season…A week later – Saturday, May 7th – there will be an opportunity for teams to get some track time and take their equipment through a pre-season tech inspection during an open practice session, from 1:00 ‘til 4:00.
