With only 1 event out of 4 complete on the Kart track at Brockville, all drivers were itching to get back out and go racing. Despite 2 weeks off due to wet weather, these drivers put on a great show all evening long.
It was a wave of emotion for Malcome Banks on his way to claiming his 2nd straight win in First Year Box Stock as he led early on with Rhylan Poole giving chase. Just past the halfway point Banks spun his kart in turn 1 as Poole took control of the race. On the final lap Banks was charging hard and pulled even in turn 3. Off turn 4 Banks charged off the turn and had just enough to claim his 2nd straight win over Poole with Max McBride in 3rd.
Bryson Winters also had a lot going on in the 2nd Year Box Stock 10 lap event. after taking 2nd from Lachlan Anderson he battled Aiden Berry for the lead late in the going. A caution flew before halfway as Lucas Comeau took a hard hit into the turn 4 wall. Comeau was shaken up but would be ok. On the restart Winters would get by Aiden Berry and would lead the rest of the way for his first win of the year with Lachlan Anderson 3rd.
Barron Greer was setting the pace early in the 15 lap Rookie 1 event but Max Petro was on the move and charging hard. On lap 7 Petro would make his move taking the lead away from Greer and would go unchallenged to take his first win of the year. Barron Greer would hold on for 2nd while Grayson Reddick made it close but would come across in 3rd.
In Rookie 2 Kalen Draper wasted no time taking the lead away from early pace setter Brayden Comeau and appeared to be well on his way to a 2nd straight win. That all changed after a lap 5 caution as Brennan Moore came up to challenge. Moore would get by with 8 to go and would not look back recording the big win. Draper would cross in 2nd while Landon Slinger would charge to 3rd at the finish.
In the Clone 15 lap event Jordan Wood did all he could to hold Braxton D’Alessio off for the lead. On lap 7 D’Alessio would charge by in turn 2 and would go un matched to stay undefeated in Clone while Jordan Wood crossed 2nd.
Jr. Restricted was a little bit tougher for D’Alessio as he would have to start from 7th while Early pace setter Jacob Herbison enjoyed the lead over Jayden Comeau and Tyler Stewart. Comeau would take over the top spot just before halfway with Stewart and D’Alessio moving to 2nd and 3rd. Braxton D’Alessio would charge forward as he shot past Stewart for 2nd, and make a run at Comeau for the lead. On the final lap D’Alessio pulled off the move taking the lead away in turn 2 and would charge to his first Jr. Restricted win of the year, Jayden Comeau would cross in 2nd with Tyler Stewart in 3rd.
Stock Light saw Xavier Perrin Jump out front and have his way with the field in the opening 7 laps. Perrin was looking to score his first ever win on dirt but opening day winner Eric Castonguay had other ideas. On lap 9 Castonguay took over the lead and would bring Christopher Pryer with him to 2nd. Over the final laps Eric Casonguay would march on to record win number 2 of the year over Pryer with Dylan Tinkler crossing in 3rd.
In Stock Heavy Ryan Roth would jump out to the lead and was looking to put a rough opening night behind him. Mark Greer had other ideas though as he took over the lead and looked to be dominant. On lap 5 Greer spun while leading bringing out the yellow. On the restart Roth led but Raymond David took over and began his charge to a possible win but Brian Clark was charging forward. On lap 10 Clark would take control of the race and despite a late restart, Brian Clark would go on to score his first win in his first start of 2017. Raymond David held on for 2nd while Tim Bailey held off Randy Revelle for the final podium spot.
Next Wednesday a full show of karting action will be set to take place with the first green flag of the night set to fall at 7pm.
