The second to last points night of the season was ready to go this past Wednesday night on the Bullring at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. With drivers still in the running for point titles and many in the running for feature wins, the intensity picked up in all classes.

In First Year Box Stock Bryson Winters had only made 3 previous starts but had a great record with 2 wins and a runner up finish. This night was pretty successful too as he took over the lead from division points leader and early race leader Keegan Elliott on lap 7. Over the final 3 laps Winters would hold off the winner from 2 weeks ago, Lachlan Anderson, to grab his 3rd win of the year while Elliott came across in 3rd at the finish.

In 2nd Year Box Stock Blake Smith had 2 runner up finishes all year and was determined to get his first checkered flag of the year. He took the lead at the drop of the green and held off all challengers to secure a dominant first win of the season over points leader Grayson Reddick and Dylan Moore.

Rookie 1 was equally as exciting as Max Petro led early on and was looking to hold everyone at bay for his first ever win. Johnathen Davidson was also looking for his first ever win as he took over the lead at halfway. Davidson held off repeated challenges by several drivers to get his first ever Rookie 1 win. Max Petro brought his best ever finish home with a 2nd place run while Kalen Draper battled early race problems to finish 3rd.

Jr. Sportsman 2 had yet another big field of karts but the night belonged to a driver who was looking to get his season back in the right direction. Branden Hudson has had just 1 podium finish in 2016 that being a 3rd on August. 3, on this night he led the entire distance, held off points leader Braxton D’Alessio and finally grabbed his first win of the season with runner up in points Jayden Comeau completing the top 3 drivers.

The Jr. Restricted division saw a dominant performance by points leader Braxton D’Alessio. Chasing 2 track titles this year, D’Alessio has been a consistent driver and would flat out dominate on this night leading every lap on route to securing his 2nd win of the year and first since June. 22. Tyler Morin would cross in 2nd while 6 time feature winner Zack Renaud would finish a strong 3rd.

Stock Light saw a fantastic battle between points leader and 6 time feature winn Eric Castonguay and Can-Am Speedway invader Dylan Crawford throughout the 15 lap event. Castonguay remained up front the entire way and held off Crawford on a green-white-checkered finish to claim his 7th feature win of the season with Crawford a close 2nd while Brody Cordingly would come across 3rd at the finish.

This Stock Heavy class saw a first time winner 2 weeks ago, this motivated drivers like new comer Ryan Roth to try the same thing. Roth led in the early going and looked to have things wrapped up before a late yellow would slow the pace. On the restart Roth would get away from the man who won his first ever race just 2 weeks ago, Randy Revelle, by 3 kart lengths and charge on to victory lane at Brockville for the very first time. 3 time feature winner edged out points leader Brian Clark to finish 3rd at the checkers.

The Lawn Tractors are always a crowd favorite and on this night former Mini Stock Champion Mathieu Aubin would be the driver to beat but it wasn’t easy. Mat Turner set the pace early on but Wes Pelkie would be the man in charge after lap 5. Behind them Mathieu Aubin nearly flipped his ride in turn 4 but regained control. After 2 cautions Aubin was back in the mix and was able to get by Turner for 2nd and race leader Pelkie with 2 laps to go for his 3rd win of the year with Pelkie and Turner crossing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Next week is championship week in all 7 classes, many titles are still up for grabs and things will get interesting on The Bullring. The action kicks off at 7pm.
