Another warm evening resulting in more tricky track conditions this past Wednesday night made for some intense racing as everyone was searching for grip on a track that was tough to get a hold on.
The First Year Box Stock division was ready for battle and saw some Brighton Speedway invaders be the class of the field. Gabe and Gordon Miller were the dominant drivers in the 10 lap contest. After several cautions the Gabe and Gordon, along with Aiden Berry were all locked into a great battle for the win. On the final restart with 2 to go Gabe Miller remained in control and made his first visit successful to score the victory over Gordon Miller and Aiden Berry.
In the Second Year Box Stock class Barron Greer was looking to return to victory lane after claiming the first 2 races of the year. Greer took over the lead early on and held off a late charge by 3 time winner Grayson Reddick to score his 3rd win of the season over Reddick and last week’s winner Dylan Moore.
In Rookie 1 Max Petro had a break out night and was looking to score his first ever win in the division. Kyle Stewart had other plans on this night, after a tough start Stewart regained focus and used a power move to go from 4th to the lead in 1 lap. Over the final 7 laps Carson McKee tried to close the gap but he ran out of time as Kyle Stewart made it to victory lane for the first time in 2016 over McKee with 2 time feature winner Landen Slinger taking the 3rd spot.
The Rookie 2 feature was cut short after 4 laps as Kalen Draper suffered mechanical issues allowing Brennan Moore to score his 7th consecutive feature win of the year.
The Jr. Sportsman 2 class saw a caution filled 15 lap contest as the track conditions changed quickly making it difficult for all drivers. Nicholas Cordingly was the early pace setter but with only a handful of laps remaining would lose the handle in turn 2. This left Jayden Comeau at the top of the leader board, after several late yellow flag Comeau never faltered and held on to become the first 2 time winner of the year over points leader Braxton D’Alessio and Mason Barkley.
Stock Light saw some great racing all night but the race was dominated by points leader Eric Castonguay. The 2015 Jr. Restricted champion was fast all night and despite a late race charge by Dylan Tinkler, it wasn’t meant to be as Eric Castonguay drove away to his 5th win of the season over Dylan Tinkler with Tristan Draper crossing 3rd.
The Jr. Restricted division has been very competitive all year but on this night Christopher Pryor would be the driver to beat. After taking over the lead early on he would hold off 3 time winner Zack Renaud to score his 2nd win of 2016 over Renaud while Xavier Perrin held off all challengers to take 3rd at the checkers.
The Stock Heavy division closed out a great night of racing and Mark Greer was in control of the field at the drop of the green flag. Behind him 3 time feature winner and defending Heavy champion Brian Clark was trying his best to get by for the lead. A late restart shook up the field as Clark faded to 4th as Raymond David and Ryan Roth moved to 2nd and 3rd. Greer however was tough to beat and would hold on to score his 2nd win of the year over David with Brian Clark getting to 3rd after Ryan Roth made contact with the wall coming to the checkered flag.
Next week all 8 classes will be ready for action and with points becoming more important , the action will be intense through the remainder of the season. The first green flag will drop at 7pm.
