Things might have been more than a little late getting started, but Brockville Ontario Speedway’s weekly racing program is heading for a strong finish as the abbreviated 2020 schedule makes a run for the checkered flag.

“Even though its been an unusual year scheduling-wise, our car counts have been very strong across the board,” said track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland. “We’ve been fortunate to have our team of marketing partners continue to support our efforts and several local businesses and services have stepped-up to the plate to add extra incentive in the form of cash contingency sponsorship for some of the feature events.”

Action returns to the popular 3/8th mile oval on Temperance Lake Road Saturday, August 29th as Tackaberry Construction presents the return of the DIRTcar Small Block Modifieds, Sportsman-Modifieds, Novice Sportsman, Mini Stock, Street Stock and 1000 RV Sales Crate Sprint Car divisions. 1000 Islands Toyota will back a show with the Sportsman-Mods, Novice Sportsman, Crate Sprints, Mini Stocks, Street Stocks and Vintage Modifieds Saturday, September 5th.

Racers will need to register prior to 5:00 on Thursday of the week they intend to participate. Grandstand admission remains limited to 100 spectators and tickets will need to be pre-paid through the track lottery system to allow for contact tracing. Procedures detailing driver registration and grandstand admission protocol can be found on the track web-site or social media platforms.

“With everything that has happened this year it would be easy to look at all the negative aspects, but I’ve always been a glass half-full type of person,” Paul Kirkland explained. “What we’ve gone through this year proves that we have some amazing people associated with this racetrack. Its time to focus on the positive. Fans, drivers, race teams, staff and our sponsors are all working toward a common goal. We’re making the best of a bad situation and their commitment and dedication are appreciated.”
