Hometown racers are the heart and soul of the weekly racing scene. Their passion and dedication for the sport keep things running at the local motorsports level. As the 2022 season opener gets closer, the team at Brockville Ontario Speedway has confirmed a number of special events that will serve as the perfect compliment for the track’s Saturday night favourites. Track owner/promoter Paul Kirkland says the first major show on this year’s calendar is actually a holdover from the 2021 Dirt Outlaw Apparel/King Edward Auto Parts Fall Nationals.
“The weather certainly wasn’t our friend last year but we’re hoping to put together a great show to wrap things up,” Paul Kirkland said. “Monday, May 23rd we’ll host a 100-lap Small Block Modified feature paying $10,000 to win, plus Sportsman heats and a 50-lap ‘A’ main with a $2,000 payday. Our hometown 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprints will have a 25-lap feature for $2,000. Street Stock and Vintage Modifieds will also be on hand. Action starts at 5:00. Rain checks from last fall will be honoured, with tickets also on sale at the gate.”
The Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Triple Crown Series returns in 2022. 50-lap Modified and 40-lap Sportsman features will be the headline divisions again this year. Saturday, June 11th they’ll be joined by the Novice Sportsman and Street Stocks, with Novice Sportsman, 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprints and Surprenant Truck Shop Mini Stocks part of the Saturday, August 13th line-up.
The inaugural Campfire Club Sprint Car Race Weekend has the Action Sprint Tour, Pro Stocks, Northeast Late Model Alliance and Vintage Modifieds Friday, September 9th. The next night is headlined by 360 Sprint Car, Action Sprint Tour and Vintage Modifieds. The AST winner will earn a guaranteed starting spot for the Canadian Crate Nationals – Friday, September 16th – Ohsweken Speedway. Custom trophies for the entire weekend will be provided by Gates Graphics.
Kirkland says it isn’t too early to start thinking about the 2022 edition of the Dirt Outlaw Apparel/King Edward Auto Parts Fall Nationals. Friday, October 14th will showcase the Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Triple Crown finale for 358 Modifieds, the Canadian 358 Modified Series final event, Sportsman and Street Stocks. 100-lap DIRTcar Modified Series and 50-lap Sportsman Series dates will take the Saturday, October 15th spotlight. Sharing the bill will be the Surprenant Truck Shop Mini Stocks and Pro Stocks.
“It’s never too early to start thinking about great weather for what has become one of the country’s most popular short track racing weekends.”
